Marine Plywood

Water contra is also known as marine plywood. Being a water and moisture resistant material, it is perfect for outdoor use as it is resistant to various weather conditions such as rain and snow. These water-resistant wood panels are the most widely used plywood among plywood types. Plywood layers can vary. Because plywood dimensions vary accordingly. These panels, which can be combined diagonally or parallel, can be produced in different sizes. Birch plywood is also used in the marine industry as it is durable like marine plywood. Well then, let's take a look at how water contra is produced.

How is Water Contra Produced?

It is the material obtained by sticking thin peeling sheets obtained by peeling the tree trunk parts of certain lengths and diameters in special machines, by putting them on top of each other in 3, 5, 7 or more odd numbers with the fiber directions perpendicular to each other and pressing under pressure.

Under which environmental conditions can water contra be used?

Plywood, like other woods, requires preparation before painting. If you start with furniture or marine grade plywood, preparation is easy because the surface is very smooth for this type of plywood. In summary, we can say that the process of coloring the water contras is done as follows. After sanding the water contras of good masters until they are smooth and cleaning the dust on the surface, the priming process is done. After the priming process, they pass to the painting process with a small sandpaper.

Although we recommend using the water contrast on the painted surface of the water contra in the environments where there is direct contact with the external environment, humid environment may cause some situations such as fading of the surface varnish in humid environments over time. However, this does not mean that the water contra is damaged. With a little varnish, the old look will come back. In order to avoid such situations, we recommend the composite material, which is mostly used outdoors, which we will discuss in our other articles.
